Tela and her Hair
It started with a couple dreads,
right on the top of her head.
We combed and brushed
and bore through the pain.
Concluding today, right now,
was the time for a summer doo.
Out came the scissors,
as we parted the hair.
Off came an inch, with a snip and a snap
A turn of her head and a snippet from the top.
With a glance in the mirror
Her new little bob,
looked ready for summer.
She seemed pleased with her new doo
until she exclaimed,
"This hair won't stay with the group.
It likes to be free and hang separately."
And this morning sure enough the strand of hair had grown.
His name was Carl now and he was not like the others.
As she grabbed other strands all around her head.
"George 1, George 2, George 3 and George 4." She almost lost count and then found George 5.
"But Carl was different, he never stayed with a George."
Going cross eyes, sitting criss cross, as she held Carl's long legs,
she said with scepticism and pride, "he is a bit of a redhead and his legs are too long. I think I might cut them. If Carl wants to be in front of my face, he needs to be short!"
So if you have a new summer doo, and a Carl that won't stay with the group.
Cut his legs short, so he won't stand so tall. It is rude to be standing tall if you insist on standing in front of somebody's face.
